This was our first week back to full time homeschooling! It’s our 16th year of educating at home. We kicked off the new school year with waffles, (according to the special days calendar, it was International Waffle Day)!
No shirt, no shoes, no problem serving up a geography lesson.
We erased the ocean mural from our chalkboard wall. What a dusty blue mess! At least it cleans up fairly easy.
For history we learned about the explorers from the “Age of Discovery” as the introduction leading into our first unit study of the school year, “Pirates”!
Our first library check outs of the school year.
Z’s third day of the third grade!
A movie day with Veggie Tales, The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything, and a remake of Treasure Island.
J’s fourth day of the fourth grade! (Sorry about the blurred photo, but this kid was not able to stand still, nor the photographer, apparently)
These are the prettiest pickings from our science project garden this week. That’s not an apple, it’s a sweet red pepper. We harvested only a few tomatoes, but have dozens almost ripe on the vines.
I hope you had a good week and that the upcoming week will be even better!

I love your chalkboard wall. So cool!!!
Thanks, we love it, too!
Ohhh.. Pirates look like a fun study! 🙂 I can’t imagine having to clean up the dust from an entire chalkboard wall!! We have a big chalkboard in the kitchen and that thing is the bane of my existence half the time with all the dust it creates!! {Besides the fact that my kids have an attraction to colored chalk that loves to sift into the the grout of our kitchen floor!!} Hopefully it wasn’t too bad for you, though!
The mess doesn’t happen often since we leave a mural up for a month or more. And we try to get it cleaned up quickly, before we track it through the house. I reckon a pirate ship or treasure map will be next. We should be starting on it this up coming week. Thanks for visiting, Desi, and come back again.
A pirate unit study sounds exciting! The kids are cute and the veggies look good! Thanks for linking up at FF!
We needed a way to transition from middle ages Europe to the US for this year’s studies. A pirate ship voyage to the New World seems like the way to go.
Thanks for hosting Friendship Friday again and accepting my very late post!
Awesome!!
Thank you Mrs. Chrissy!
Pirates looks fun! We’ll be getting to those soon too! I love the ‘You wouldn’t want to be…” books!
Pirates will be a fun study. And we read all the “You Wouldn’t Want To Be…” books, they’re great!
Ha! Ha! Love the BLUE FEET! A mural to add to and supplement learning is SUCH a great idea! Where to find a BIG chalkboard? Pirate’s are ALWAYS a fun study!
We bought a $10 can of chalkboard paint and $6 in chalk last Aug! Best $ we ever spent on a school improvement project! A pirate ship, or treasure map is going to be the next wall project!
