Our official back to school date is set for August 5.  Our unit studies last left off at the end of the middle ages in Europe.  It’s my plan for us to jump a historic ship and set sail for American History.  I added statehood anniversaries and presidents birthdays to the special days calendar. We will take those days to study states, presidents, and other US history related special days as we move through our new school year.

I make my monthly special days calendars by using several sources including old calendars,  holiday books, newspapers, and the web. If you know of a special day that I do not have listed, please comment and let me know what it is so I can add it in.   Below are the links to my favorite online calendars.

No kidding, I was just changing around the kid’s magnetic calendar yesterday, thinking to myself, “August has no holiday” in the context of homeschooling. Great list and thank you for linking up at Thrilling Thursday! I think it was your comment that got lost in the approval process but, I did read it and I’m glad you found me/my link up =)
