About

Welcome to my blog!  Here you are always welcome.  If it were possible, I’d offer you a cup of coffee or a Diet Coke (depending on the time of day), and we’d let my “big kids” watch the littles so we could hang out in the kitchen for a while and have a minute or two of grown-up time. Of course I know we’ll end up talking about the kids. But, just maybe there will be a little more to it than that.

For starters, I’ll tell you how the name for this blog came about.  Two reasons really…first, when ever I’m with a group of homeschooling moms, someone always makes the comment “I’m learning as much as the kids”.  So true. Through our 15 year homeschooling journey, I have learned  MUCH.  And well I should have..  This is my 4th time in high school!  1. Graduate of Lone Oak High School a long time ago. 2. Learned along side my son who has graduated from Hendrickson Covenant High School . 3.  Presently I am in both freshman and junior classes at Covenant High.(as my daughter calls her school) 4,  And I’m just starting  the learning journey over with my 2nd grader.

The other reason for naming my blog Still Learning Something New is because there is a MOMMA connection.  When I was just a little girl, my momma was always learning a new craft, starting a diy project, making up recipes….you get the idea. She lead scout troops, taught Sunday school, taught crafting… After I’d left home, she started up an after school program in which gave her opportunity to continue learning more and share what she knew. She went back to college when she was in her 60s.  She loved it.  She said it’s so important to always be around children and to always be learning something new. She’s in Heaven now and I’m sure she’s Still Learning Something New everyday.  Me too.    betty jo

Love the title of your blog! I feel the same way as a child of God – I’m always learning. Homeschooling my children – I’m always learning. After 2o years of marriage – I’m always learning! It never stops, does it. 🙂

My kids, two sons are WAY, way past homeschooling days, but I love the title and your insights. I was especially touched by Ian as this is the second post in different Blogs about a bullying situation which I believe is becoming epidemic. We sooooo need to pray for our little ones and those that feel they have to exert power over them.
I’m coming back and looking forward to reading past posts and future posts!
God bless you and yours richly and keep on smiling!!

Pastor Roland, thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words. I’m glad to hear that others are writing about the bullying epidemic. I’m glad, also, to hear that prayers are being said for my neighbor, Ian. betty jo

This is a comment I am giving to ALL the past WP Blogs I used to follow and the links I used to post because of your site. I am the Pastor of Oasis Bible Ministry and I have been away from WordPress for about a year to 14 months. Due to health and computer problems both, I had to quit for a while, but the Lord has been speaking to my heart to get back and do what HE asked me to do. So, I am in the process of doing a new blog, “For the Love of God” under the outreach of Oasis Bible Ministry.

I am sorry for not being able to let anyone know until now, but I do apologize as so many of you had visited and of course, through that, the Holy Spirit led me to your sites. One of the reasons, I am writing a letter as a form for all, is because I am going through the links I have from before and with your permission, posting them on my blog on a links page. Some of you may already be in the “Blogs I Follow” section, but since it only holds 50 and I like so many more, I thought it is only fitting to make a separate page for the rest of the blogs I like.

I believe in Body Ministry and gifts that the Holy Spirit equips everybody who calls Christ Jesus Lord, and therefore, it is only fitting to let others see what the Holy Spirit is doing in other areas of His Church. Please believe me; this is NOT an attempt to draw anyone back. That is between the person and the Lord. He called me to do what I do as He called each of you. I just have to do what He says, it is up to Him to draw people to His Word as He gifts me.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience of those who followed me and then ended up with a “blank gravatar” for I do sincerely apologize. But, I do sincerely pray God’s richest blessings on each of you AND if per chance, you do NOT want me to post your link, I will remove it per your wishes. Again, thanks AND again, God bless you!

Pastor Roland! How wonderful to hear from you! I have wondered several times over the past year what had happened to you. I looked for you on Facebook, your ministry link, and even tried to send an e-mail. I’m sorry to hear about both your health and internet problems, but just plain ole’ happy to have you back on the web! Praise God! betty jo

I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog award because you have a special site dear to my heart. However, you DO NOT have to accept this award or display it if you do not desire too or have your own reasons for not doing it. Again, I just wanted you to know that you are truly special and you are someone I truly admire for your writing and service (ministry) to myself, to fellow bloggers and to the Lord. If you want to at least check it out, please go here for details:

Thanks, and God bless you for everything you do.

I’m glad I found your blog.

I’m newly married and we are thinking about children in the future. I have been educated in Public School system, and now I have a job in the same school system in Central offices, working with teachers and principals whose job it is to teach our children. That is why I desire to homeschool our children when they finally arrive. Trying to get as much info as possible, and will hopefully have lots to share as the years go by ….

You are one smart lady! How I wish I known about and prepared for our homeschooling journey ahead of actually starting it. The rise of teachers who are homeschooling their children certainly seems to be on the rise. Thanks for visiting! betty jo

Always learning something new with the kids has been the best part of homeschooling! I’m much smarter now than when we started this journey. 🙂

Me too. I have to be quick on my feet at all times. One time things work and the next it is a struggle and so I have to change it up on the spot to make it through the day. I am so thankful for everyday I make it. Awesome journey. Never a dull moment. I Praise God for the freedom we have to school our children at home.
