According to the special days calendar for October, the second Thursday is World Sight Day.  It’s been a couple of years since we’ve covered eyes, vision, and eye health so it’s time to revisit the topic.  I’ve updated our resource list.  There are awesome study helps including videos, diagrams, and activities!

There are many Bible verses relating to the eyes, blindness, and healing of the blind.  However, Isaiah 42:16 is what I have selected for our homeschool Bible discussion, copy work and journaling

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
    along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn the darkness into light before them
    and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
    I will not forsake them.”

To conclude our World Sight Day study we’ll be watching this informative video about the history, training, and use of seeing eye dogs  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udUWaXxGo_U
